Coinstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSTR) was founded by a Stanford graduate student with a big idea. The concept was simple, yet innovative: a self-service machine that turns coins into cash. Coinstar's first coin counting machines were installed in four San Francisco Bay area supermarkets in 1992 and now Coinstar_® coin-counting machines can be found in nearly every neighborhood across the United States as well as in the United Kingdom, parts of Canada and Puerto Rico.

Our expertise in self-service kiosks and consumer services at the front of retail stores has led us to expand to other lines of business beyond coin counting. Today Coinstar is known as the leading provider of 4th Wall™ services, working to bring new and innovative products to consumers at the retail front-end and new profit opportunities to its retail customers.

We do business in about 140 countries with products that span from money transfer to coin counting to Pay as You Go products, DVD rental kiosks and amusement vending equipment.
